Post subject:  Backup Dial-Up Setup

We had this nifty setup at my old work when the ISDN went down the mail server would switch to the next metric which was the 56K dial-up.

Just wondering if anyone has done similar on their Linux box and how they achieved it.

(Wouldn't mind adding it as an article on the site)

Wouldn't a simple way of doing this be to have a cron job that checks whether the ISDN (or whatever) is up and if it isn't initiates the dial in on a modem line??

What do other people think??

Yeah but that is a nasty hack way...

The best way is with a metric value... so when the net is access (or some tries) then it just dials the backup line :P :)
