I was wondering about the article off the home page. I have attempted setting up Internet connection using Optus@Home with Linux using Redhat 7.2 with a Motorola Surfboard Cablemodem. The Redhat 7.2 setup isn't correct because Redhat 7.2 no longer supports the netcfg command. I have done all the setup using the Network Configurator but still no success. Is there some way I can check my IP configuration in a similar way to using ipconfig in Windows?

P.S. How do I get smilies into my message?

You can get IP info from your ethernet card with "ifconfig eth0" as root.

davids, I fixed the Red Hat 7.2 mini How-To, thnx for the update.

As for the smilies, you get them by either clicking the icons on the left hand side when typing your message or by directly entering the codes, e.g. :) is : ) (without the space).

yeah red hat 7.2 certainly does not support netcfg so i am not sure why i've got the screens (netcfg) there.

the only thing i can recollect after reading the original doco. on af, is that i set it up for someone using 7.2 but at home i was running 7.0 at that time....

mayhem
this: is the relevant section for 7.2

mayhem, you might want to change the title from 7.2 to 7.0 or add the link somehow to the document and remove the netcfg screens. it's a bit of work, in fact i don't mind if you remove the doco. altogether. it makes a lot of assumptions plus there's things like ipcop etc....which are better solutions for router purposes.

thanks for pointing that out davids. :)

I will fix the doco up, don't want to remove it completely as it has helped many people.

:D

I put all that frigging around with my Redhat Linux behind me when I installed the Clark Connect software. Highly recommended! But now I want to get other Linux applications over the top of CC.

Let's wait for the next exciting episode!
