Post subject:  Gnome & Bootup Sequence

Hi guys,

I have only just done a full swtch to Linux Red Hat 7.3. I figured the only way to really get to know Linux is to go cold turkey.

However the question is I am getting the following message just as I boot into Gnome GUI:
Quote:
Could not look up internet address "ZYZ". This will prevent Gnome from working correctly. It maybe possible to correct this by adding "XYZ" to /etc/host.

I am on Optus Cable etc etc.

Any advice or suggestions guys on how to fix this?

Sounds like your hostname isn't set. Edit /etc/sysconfig/network and add the line:

HOSTNAME="my.hostname.goes.here"

Restart networking/reboot and see what happens.
