Hey all,
I am new to these forums, and a sort of advanced-beginner at Linux. I am currently building a Linux server, which I will be using to host a few websites that I currently host through serverbeach. My ISP is a cable provider, and my question is, How should I go about getting a static IP address?? I mean, is there some procedure I need to know about, and do I even NEED a static IP address or is there some technique to function otherwise?
Also, what would be the best choice of hardware as far as my networking is concerned? I am leaning towards a basic router to share my connection, with my main computer being my development station, and my Linux Server running right along side it. I will be using a KVM switch to save the cost of buying a new monitor and all that good stuff. Thanks for the advice!!
