Ok, here's the situation. I have a 32 MEG ATI Radeon card with TV out. This is an PCI card, and to further complicate the problem the signal is going out not to a monitor but to a TV! Understandably Red Hat 7.2 has a slight problem with this.

The closest match to my card that I could find was the 'Generic ATI Radeon'. Which I tried. Everthing worked fine until the graphical login when my TV went blank for a few seconds then was promptly replaced by scrolling vertical and horizontal lines. (Which in themselves were pretty cool, but not the intended effect, I'm sure! :D )

I'm a complete n00b to Linux, and any help would be extremely appreciated!

-thanks in advance!

Probably try making sure your Xconfig is set to use a maximum of 60Hz refresh rate.

Sounds like as soon as the system is loading any X or graphical environment settings it is display at a refresh rate which the TV just can't handle, hence the lines etc :(

Well, I got it figured out now. There was some error on my hard drive that prohibited Linux from installing correctly. I've replaced the hard drive, and Red Hat is up and running beautifully!

Excellent, good to hear :)

I have almost finished building my Mini machine and will be installing Red Hat 9 on it once completed, should be quite good :)
